Tamarindo, Costa Rica

After a 2 month haitus, I finally finished this one up last night. at 3 am. while watching the British version of ‘The Office’. Its so much funnier than the English version! Its so hilarious! Anyway, I made this for my friend’s birthday, who recently moved to Tamarindo (jealous, ya?) to help lead a church. hence, the little grass-hut church in the background. I’ve seen pictures of the church, and it is literally one huge grass hut! This one’s colored pencils and paint pens. Happy New Year!

Bay

Tried to challenge myself by painting some waves at a different angle. I’m going to try to do more like this- want to get better at it. This ones a soft pastel of Costa Rica created from my head. On another note, its snowing in Michigan for the first time this season & the sun is out at the same time… its looks so cool out the window.

Surf Bouquet

flowers are colored pencil.. waves and sky are soft pastel.. outlines are black and white paint pen!

Surf Scene

Drew this one with colored pencils over prisma markers and outlined in sharpee paint pen. I’m not sure where it is supposed to be… use your imagination.. Just wanted to draw something that makes you happy when you look at it. :)

Soft Palette Waves

For the first time, I tried a drawing using only soft pastels. I was going to add more detail with a black colored pencil, but actually liked how it was just simple and light. I always want to outline everything in black but I resisted! Pastels are really fun because you don’t have to be a perfectionist and can just fade the colors around with your fingers.

Pineapple Fields

finished up a colored pencil drawing of a girl walking through pineapple rows to a sunrise and good surf.. guess you could say i’ve been daydreaming a bit lately. surely this scene exists somewhere in Hawaii, right? included some soft pastels in the water and outlined in paint pen.

Drawing Session

Spent the morning sitting up on the deck drawing this surfer girl and drinking coffee. This was was drawn with sharpees and colored pencils- so fun! Scroll down to see the progress…
