On the first day of my experimental darkroom class, we were asked to bring in a 4×5 negative, punch 5 holes out of it, trade hole punches with another student, and go into the darkroom and try to make something cool. This is the oddest assignment I’ve been given… here were my results..

Here are scans of some recent darkroom prints from my experimental class. the landscape images directly below are from a 4×5 medium format class using a view camera.

white birch tree- interesting texture- also taken at Frederick Meijer Gardens

some leaves that i put in the enlarger, covered with tissue paper. no negative used.

a still life print of coffee, taken with a view camera/ 4.5 film. rings are coffee cup dipped into developer and used as a stamp on the paper after darkroom exposure.

Tried to challenge myself by painting some waves at a different angle. I’m going to try to do more like this- want to get better at it. This ones a soft pastel of Costa Rica created from my head. On another note, its snowing in Michigan for the first time this season & the sun is out at the same time… its looks so cool out the window.
