Creating a fresh piece for the Surf Art Expo… with soft pastels and acrylic. Happy Summer.

Please join me for my first art show, Memorial Day weekend, at the Steel Pier Classic in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Surf Art Expo is held annually in conjunction with the surf contest, right on the beach. Excited to start putting a booth together and getting ready for the weekend!

A mother’s day card I made for my awesome mom with soft pastels

this is a soft pastel chalk painting! i’m practicing clouds and trying to get better at skies. i really like how the waves turned out, they look kinda translucent. hope you enjoy this one, stay stoked..
Today I was craving a snow cone. Then I thought of how good a shave ice would be. There is no shave ice here, so I drew an illustration of one. Then I drew two more. It was a good time.

On the first day of my experimental darkroom class, we were asked to bring in a 4×5 negative, punch 5 holes out of it, trade hole punches with another student, and go into the darkroom and try to make something cool. This is the oddest assignment I’ve been given… here were my results..

Here are scans of some recent darkroom prints from my experimental class. the landscape images directly below are from a 4×5 medium format class using a view camera.

serene lake and a weeping willow tree @ Frederick Meijer Gardens

white birch tree- interesting texture- also taken at Frederick Meijer Gardens

some leaves that i put in the enlarger, covered with tissue paper. no negative used.

a still life print of coffee, taken with a view camera/ 4.5 film. rings are coffee cup dipped into developer and used as a stamp on the paper after darkroom exposure.
